Happy Anniversary to My Blog!

Today marks my 5th anniversary here at American Punjaban PI. It's been a long, fulfilling 5 years!

I remember feeling a bit lost and like I was the only one out there who had wound up meeting an Indian man online and falling in love. Boy was I wrong!

I've come a long way from that lost and alone mentality. I've met countless women in similar situations and made a few good friends online and offline. I still continue to discover new intercultural couples on a regular basis. I love it!

In the last 5 years I've:
Had 3 different blog names
Built up 101 followers via Google Friend Connect
Gained 676 followers on Facebook
Added 145 followers on Twitter
Amassed 1206 followers on Google+

My top 3 blog posts are:
Punjabi's Are Loud, Gujrati's Are Money-Minded (over 44K hits!)
Cultural Appropriation in the Pardesi Community
Sex in India

Honorable Mentions for this year are:

Most +1's: Planning for Long Term Intercultural Relationships
Most comments: The Line Between Protection and Control

I'm now averaging 1500 hits a day. That's such a big number compared to the original 5-10 a week LOL.

Total all time hits are just over 600,000.

Do you have a blog? Share it in a comment below.

  1. 1500 hits a day! Shabash!
I'm thinking about starting a Desi cooking blog for those just beginning to cook Indian food.
What do you think of that idea?

  2. Oh that would be exciting! I know a lot of girls would be so happy to get the beginner tips that simplify making rotis round or thin enough, etc. as well as how to use the fresh spices and oils to get that authentic Indian flavor. Just make sure you get me the link so I can add it to my blogroll and share it all over the web. :)

  3. Congrats on your blog anniversary. Mine was a few months ago.

  4. Congrats on 5 years!

congrats on 5 years and how far you have come! 1500 hits a day is amazing!

  6. Wow! Congratulations. Your blog is really rocking! Great job! May you have more success in the future.

  7. Ahh that's great! Congrats on your blogiversary & how far you've come!

  8. Happy anniversary! Great info :)

  9. Thank you and happy belated anniversary to you too!

  10. Thank you! I hope it continues to grow and thrive as it has been.

  11. I have something to confess. I started reading your blog during your time in Amritsar. At that time, half of your posts were about food and health issues and were negative. I did not particularly liked your blog those days. But, after sometime I realized your culture shock. Amritsar is unlike Delhi or Mumbai and I could imagine the congested neighbourhood that you were living in then. We have many such neighbourhoods in Delhi too. I undstand that we live a disorganized and haphazed life in India which we are used to in India, but to expect someone else to like it is asking for too much.

  12. wow..congratulations!..I have a blog but nevr been able to garner such statistics:)

  13. Congratulations, what a great accomplishment!

  14. Happy blogiversary! This is a cool way to keep track of your growth. I blog at I started when I was about 7 months pregnant back in late 2010 (with a different name on Blogger) as a hobby. Then I switched gears in 2012 and started taking it more seriously. :)

  15. This blog was my only outlet for all of the deep emotions I felt at that point. I know it was hard for some people to understand but I'm glad you realized that it was the shock talking. I had tried to know what I was moving into but I just wasn't able to understand and then when I had to live it, things were just so hard to adjust.

  16. I didn't take my blog seriously at first either. Then I realized how valuable it was for me as a way to express myself. Now I'm hooked.

  17. Thank you! I look forward to the future of this blog.

  18. Happy bloggerversary! :) Five years is awesome!!!
