Freedom from Anger – Priceless

This is part 3 of a 4 part posting, modeled after the popular Mastercard Priceless commercials.
Getting out of this house and enjoying the freedom Delhi provides me made a huge difference. I felt the anger go away. I didn’t have the stress. I didn’t hate India. Even after the b*tch at the embassy I didn’t hate India or Indians (she was Indian) and I said all the choice words I needed to about her and then moved on. None of the rage I had been feeling was inside of me anymore. I got my hot showers in the hotel room. I purchased some American goods we can’t get in Amritsar and I met up with another lady in an intercultural relationship with an Indian man.

Even though the trip to Haridwar and Rishikesh had it’s issues, I was still able to manage my anger and barely got past annoyed. I didn’t take any of Uncles crappy personality to be personal towards me. I think I spent just enough time with him to know for sure he’s just a selfish jerk and that’s all there is to it. While there are some cultural aspects to his stupidity I don’t for one second believe this is an Indian thing.

I didn’t dread going home like I often do when hubby and I just go out for the day. I actually looked forward to getting back to “MY” bed, my TV, my stuff. I looked forward to seeing MIL and FIL as well. My mind is so much clearer after vacation and I have a lot of things on my list to do some serious thinking about. Though I’m still having pain, I’m optimistic most of it will go away after I recover from vacation. Until then, I still have my trusty Zerodol (same thing as Advil in the US) to get me through.
