India Wins!

Disclaimer...I have no interest whatsoever in cricket lol.

The entire country got out of work early today for this match. I was happy cause my hunny came home...and to boot he spent time with me and muted the tv to watch a movie. It was his idea, not that he didn't look up to keep checking the score. I was happy, that's all that matters lol. (We were watching Happy Gilmore btw...he loves crazy movies like that.)

Anyway, it's now 10:51 and I just got back inside my room. When the big match was over 10 minutes ago and India had won I was drug outside to see the fireworks that started about 5 minutes before the match was over lol. The whole family was out to see. At the end of our street a door opened and at least 40 Indians came out screaming and dancing the Bhangra. They were waving flags and came parading down the street with drums and the works.

Firecrackers and smoke bombs were going off all over the street. These things are not easy on the ears for those of you who haven't been here. At American firework ceremonies there is a lot of noise, but I swear these are so much worse. Especially the little smoke bombs, they are downright painful, even when I'm in my room with the doors closed. So close up, I have to hold my ears. I'm not going deaf for nobody, especially not a cricket game.

Yay! India won lol...Does this mean I can get some sleep without a blaring tv? I'm not so sure lol...good night!

  1. I totally know what you mean with the Indian firecrackers being louder than here in the States! My husband bought a whole bunch of the "bombs" for Diwali. It was deafening! I couldn't even be on the second level of terrace when he set them off. And then when I was downstairs they were shaking the chandelier in the dining room. I'm not sure if it's a guy thing or an Indian thing, but I certainly don't think louder is better.

I hope you got some sleep tonight!

  2. I did get sleep! I'm not sure how but I did. We were on the 3rd floor and the bombs were going off in the street! I'm certain those are nowhere near as safe as American firecrackers lol. I was amazed at the smoke cloud they put off.
