Desirable Daughters

Though a little hard to follow, Desirable Daughters is teaching me much about Indian life. I still don't get why we have to hear thing from someone else to fully understand them but that is what keeps happening with me. All these things I had heard about I'm now getting to understand better. Maybe its because the book is written from the female perspective. Anyway. I'm a little worried about some things and will have to find even more ways to adjust. I consider this advanced warning helpful because when making any decision, it's good to know what you're getting yourself into.

I live my life like an open book. I have no secrets. If you want to know something, just ask. I have nothing to hide. Apparently most Indian families don't feel that way. They may ask a million and one questions about your job and such to assess you but when it comes to personal matters, it seems they don't talk much. I've seen my fiance do this and it didn't sink in until I read the book. Mind you the book is more like an Indian soap opera, but it's still helpful to read it. As a bonus the girls in the book are Hindu so it's helping me a little with that too. Other than that I haven't been a good student this week and haven't touched my Hindu books at all lol.

I will do it...I swear lol.
