Karva Chauth

Today was my first ever karva chauth. I started out early this morning after a not so good nights sleep. I didn't have sargi because well...I was too lazy to cook it that early. So I had some trail mix, cranberries and leftover pasta. I figured that was random enough to provide some good nutrition. I drank plenty of water and then went back to bed for an hour before I had to get up again and get ready for work. Not that it matters for the holiday but I woke up dreaming about the alarm clock not going off lol. It was the alarm clock that woke me up.

I got off to work, no big deal. I wasn't even close to being hungry. My morning went fine. Then lunch came and the vendor was out in the break room with food that smelled really good. Unlike some days it did not make me hungry. I didn't feel like eating at all. I went out to my car to await an important phone call. In the mean time I called my honey bun and talked to him. I talked to him a few minutes more after my important phone call and then it was time to go back to work.

My afternoon went fine. I didn't get hungry or feel weak. My stomach did start acting up and I actually got indigestion near the end of my workday. That was unexpected. I was still fine. Amazingly, I wasn't even thirsty and by this point the thought of food was actually not in my mind. I felt like I didn't even want to eat. I checked my messages, sent a few texts and then I headed home. By the time I got home the sun was almost completely set. So I would have to say my day went pretty well for a first timer.

I have read that sometimes we eat so much our bodies get to a point we don't need food for a while. I think maybe this kind of fast is something I may start doing more often. I enjoyed this. I did seem to think more clearly as I had also read that religious based fasts can make you do. I would have to say this all went well.

I even managed to find a great gift for my beloved Mummy ji and it turned out to be a big hit. She got all dressed up in a new suit and looked fantastic today. Now I can look forward to next year!
